Society’s obsession with Weight Loss
Most of the time we associate being thin with success, beauty and happiness. On the other hand, being heavier is something rarely celebrated. Society has become obsessed with losing weight. I know I was. I felt unhappy trying to reach a goal just to gain all the weight back. I was sacrificing my mental health for the sake of something that was not worth it. Don’t get me wrong, though. Weightloss can be very empowering, rewarding and healthy. But, when do we say enough is enough? When does it start becoming unhealthy? I had gotten into a pattern where I would weigh myself constantly and if I saw that I had not lost weight, I would become so depressed I would start binge eating making it worse. I was trying to become a person that everyone would look up to by sacrificing myself. Not anymore. I have opened my heart to God and I know that his plans for me are great! I will no longer be doing it because I feel forced by others or by an ideal image of fitness and beauty. I have accepted that I’m a curvy girl and I love it! I had a highlight on my profile that read WEIGHTLOSS.. I have renamed to STAY ACTIVE. I will stay active to give my mind, body and soul the respect and care it deserves.
If you got to here, thank youuuu for reading and if you are going through something similar, send me a message. I’ll be more than happy to chat.
✨DO NOT compare your body to a stranger on social media. It’s so bad for self love, mental health and confidence. Today I want you to know that you are beautiful no matter your size.✨
